Resurfacing  with ablative lasers is reserved for patients with very deep wrinkles who are looking for improvement. The two ablative lasers used at Arizona Advanced Dermatology are the Lumenis Carbon Dioxide Silk touch and the ConBio erbium lasers.  Using ablative lasers for  rejuvenation removes the epidemis and some of the dermis resulting in a wound that takes at least a week to heal. After the ablated skin has healed it will remain red for several months. With ablative lasers there is a risk of permanent lightening of the skin.

Laser resurfacing is uncomfortable and your physician will discuss with you the options for pain control.
 

Laser resurfacing is often combined with other dermatologic procedures, such as dermal fillers or Botox, to maximize cosmetic results.
